PTTG is a multifunctional proto-oncogene, overexpressed in thyroid, pituitary and other endocrine cancers. PTTG is also implicated in the pathogenesis of head and neck cancer, where high PTTG expression independently correlates with advanced tumour stage and reduced disease-free survival.
